About the event

Embark on a Journey of Storytelling and Reconciliation at Green Haven Farm

Join us for an unforgettable community storytelling workshop led by the renowned local bardic duo, Siarimis. This immersive 5-hour experience will take place on September 22, 2024, from 1-6 PM at the picturesque Green Haven Farm in the Comox Valley.

This event is generously supported by Comox Valley Arts, through their summer microgrants fund. It is free to attend, but requires registration as space is limited.

Discover the Power of Storytelling

Through interactive exercises and guided sessions, you'll learn essential storytelling techniques, including structure, memory, style, and embodiment . Whether you're a seasoned storyteller or a curious beginner, this workshop offers a supportive environment to nurture your creativity and build confidence. Musical accompaniment will be provided by Luke English, and folk instruments will be available to experiment with adding music to story.

Connect with Your Heritage and the Land

Kester Reid, an experienced storyteller and facilitator, will share traditional stories from settler lineages, shedding light on ancestral cultural values and the deep connection between community and nature. You'll be invited to explore the rich ecology of the Green Haven forest as your muse for delving into your own ancestral stories (stories provided), fostering a sense of cultural inquiry and belonging.

Embrace Reconciliation Through Ancestral Narratives

This workshop embraces a reconciliation lens, encouraging participants to explore their relationships with place and connect with oral traditions within their own lineages. By understanding our own cultural heritage, and carrying our own stories, we can foster a deeper appreciation for Indigenous peoples and homelands to contribute to a meaningful reconciliation process.
