About the event

We are excited to invite you to a unique storytelling event hosted by Chief Wedlidi Speck of the K’ate’mot Cultural Society and Kester Reid of Fianna Wilderness School.

Celebrate the rich story-threads connecting North Vancouver Island Salish-Kwakwaka’wakw and Irish-Scottish traditions.

We will be gathering under the old firs and maples of a traditional cultural site at Miracle Beach to hear stories from both traditions, working with them to explore ancestral values and cultural connections.

As a community we will explore the cultural understandings carried by the stories, offering us insight into important questions of belonging, community, reciprocity and reconciliation. Participants will be invited to share their voice, and their perspective, as we inquire not only with the stories, but also with the land around us and the ways in which it participates in the old teachings of story.

Date: July 07, 2024 Time: 11:00 AM - 2:00 PM Location: Miracle Beach Amphitheatre

This is an intercultural event that values diverse perspectives and decolonizing inquiry. Bring your curiosity and an open heart, and please plan to stay for the duration of the event.

This event is **FREE** but has **limited space**, so registration is required. Don't miss out on this special opportunity!
