My work has always stemmed from the land. I began as an environementalist in the UK, then a conservationist in the tropics, initially with an ecological focus, and then cultural. Cultural relationship to place and ecology became my inquiry, which led me into the nature connection movement and outdoor schooling.
In 2019 I co-founded Fianna Wilderness School with a dear friend and mentor, Stephanie MacKay. We now run programming in five communities mentoring kids, youth and adults into embodied cultural and personal reciprocity with the land. If you are interested in programming for a youth with a consistent peer group, check out our teen offerings through Fianna Wilderness School, by clicking below.
If you are interested in one-on-one land-based mentoring for a youth in your life, for mental health or to fortify their development as children of the landscape, get in touch with me through Undercurrents.
We are also keen to support youth through the potent transformation of adolescence, when traditional land-based rites of Initiation would historically have provided the appropriate intensity, danger and revelation to their emerging souls.
We can provide helpful resources and orientation to this developmental territory, and can support families and communities in co-creating meaningful rites of passage for their young people.
